The Euclid Auxiliary Police Unit’s objective is to assist the Euclid Police Department to help assure safety and security during community and school events, as well as emergency situations such as severe weather and power outages. As in the past, our primary details concerned traffic and crowd control. The Unit participated in school events, the Memorial Day Parade, DUI checkpoints, Halloween patrol, and the holiday foot patrol for downtown Euclid. The Auxiliary Police Unit is a volunteer organization.

You must be at least 21 years old, in good health. Membership does not hold any state certifications. You can obtain applications at the Euclid Police Department or with this link: Auxiliary Application. The interview process will include a criminal background check including fingerprints.

Our primary function is traffic and crowd control. You will be expected to attend monthly meeting and training sessions. Mandatory details are Memorial Day and Fourth of July. You are required to donate a minimum of 60 hours per year.

Training in self defenses, use of force, CPR and traffic control are conducted my members of the police department. New members will work with experienced members as a training officer. Each new member is on probation for one year.
